SAND MANDALA, COLUMBIA, SC, 2015

Monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery created a Medicine Buddha sand mandala in Columbia during the first week of November, 2015. At the end of the week, the mandala was dismantled and dispersed into the Congaree River. The Mandala was sponsored by Healing Icons, a group focused on healing through art for cancer survivors, but was also dedicated to the survivors of the 2015 floods in Columbia, and to healing and peace throughout the world.

Pictures of the construction, dismantling, and dispersal are here thanks to Carolyn Cox, Grigori Yourganov, Savannah Etheredge, and Steven White (and friend).
