Bodhicitta is the sincere, unselfish desire to attain Enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. In order to fully generate Bodhicitta, it is necessary to understand the nature of the different kinds of suffering from which living beings need to be liberated. One also needs to recognize that Enlightenment is the true means to help all sentient beings.
